Kerrie-Anne Sparks

As a youth, Kerrie-Anne Sparks trained at the Lynchburg Fine Arts Center, where she was a member of Lynchburg Regional Ballet Theatre under the direction of Colin and Sylvia Worth. She supplemented her studies by attending summer intensives, including Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, The Kirov Academy, School of American Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet. She continued her studies at the HARID Conservatory, where she graduated Valedictorian. Kerrie-Anne began her professional career with Milwaukee Ballet, and went on to dance with Ballet Internationale, Atlantic Southeast Ballet and Columbia City Ballet. She has performed leading roles in a variety of ballets, including Balanchine’s Who Cares?, Serenade, Stars and Stripes, Valse Fantasie and Donazetti Variations; Twyla Tharp’s Deuce Coupe, Septime Weber’s Where the Wild Things Are, Eldar Aleiv’s 1001 Nights, Alonzo King’s Carmen, Lila York’s Celts, Giselle, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella. Kerrie-Anne also appeared as a guest artist with the Detroit Opera and was a model for MotionWear, where she was featured in catalogs and on leotard tags. In 2003, Kerrie-Anne was given the opportunity to teach at CPYB, where she studied the syllabus and methods of renowned teacher Marcia Dale Weary. Kerrie-Anne has also taught and choreographed for the Columbia Conservatory of Dance and Litchfield Dance Arts Academy, among others, and has won several choreography awards at regional and national competitions. She was the Ballet Mistress for CCBII, the apprentice company of Columbia City Ballet, as well as a rehearsal assistant for CCB. In 2009, Kerrie-Anne graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor of arts in public relations from the University of South Carolina, where she was also a member of the USC Dance Company. Upon graduation, she received the USC Dance Program Director’s Award, for “outstanding dedication, talent and passion for the art of dance.” Kerrie-Anne and her husband have two beautiful boys and one mischievous cat. She loves her family and sharing her passion for dance with her students and her community.
