Ashlee Dance received her Bachelor of Fine arts (BFA) in Dance/Choreography from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received her Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Choreography at the California Institute of the Arts. In her early years of vigorous training, she established a strong foundation in various styles of dance. Ashlee earned numerous top soloist awards and titles throughout her competitive dance years. From an early stage in her career she was retained by dance studios for her instruction and choreography. Ashlee expanded her contemporary and modern training by studying: Graham, Cunningham, Horton, and Safety Release techniques. She worked with artists such as Sean Sullivan, Clarice Young, Justin Tornow, Duane Cyrus, B.J Sullivan, and Marsha Maddux. In 2017, Ashlee performed for the Martha Graham tribute as an ensemble dancer in the piece entitled Prelude to Action at the Joyce Theater. While in New York City, Ashlee continued her dance training while working as a free-lance choreographer. She also worked closely with several New York arts non-profit organizations, bringing arts programs into public schools. During her time in California, she continued to learn, choreograph and work commercially with LA-based artists such as Dimitri Chamblas, Sam Wentz, Nina Flagg and Rosanna Tavarez. She was also nominated for the 2022-2023 AICAD Teaching Fellowship. In 2021, she was retained as a guest choreographer by Still Inspired Dance Company in Chicago, IL. She has also worked as a choreography assistant for Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Reniers Dance Company. Currently, she is teaching, choreographing, and recently produced her latest show Bare Witness; an interactive dance installation that premiered in Los Angeles in 2022.
