Guest Intructors:

Sam Jones

Sam Jones is master of technique specializing in jazz, musical theatre and acro… and is equally well-versed in lyrical, contemporary, and many other dance styles.

Immediately after high school, Sam worked as a performer on Carnival Cruise Lines. Sam has traveled the world over and performed professionally in over 21 shows including “Kids of the Kingdon” at Walt Disney World in Orlando as Peter Pan, and as Prince Phillip at Tokyo Disneyland (Japan).

He performed in “IMAGINE…A Theatrical Odyssey” and “Les Folies Bergere” in Las Vegas. Sam also worked as both a principal dancer and Assistant Choreographer at Myrtle Beach’s renowned Alabama Theatre.

He has trained and choreographed for many of the best dance studios in the Nation. Sam brings a wealth of knowledge - and inspiration - to Edge Performing Arts.
Yaqshaan Medan

Since beginning dance at the tender age of 16, Yaqshaan obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the prestigious University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA.

He went on to work with notable companies such as Dance Theatre X, Philadelphia Opera Company, The Rock School, Nevada Ballet, Norwegian Cruise Line, and the acclaimed Las Vegas Classic Jubilee! His networking and impeccable work ethic allowed Yaqshaan to pursue his chance at choreography.

Yaqshaan became an award winning choreographer with Youth America Grand Prix, International Ballet Competition, and Regional Dance America. He holds several positions with Charlotte Ballet, Winston Salem State University as an adjunct Professor and serves as a Residential Director of Jazz and Modern at Dance Davidson in Davidson, NC.
BekaRebekah Downing D
Rebekah Downing, originally from Charlotte, trained at North Carolina Dance Theatre before attending North Carolina School of the Arts.

After receiving her diploma she switched her concentration from ballet to contemporary and remained at NCSA for 2 years. She transferred to Codarts School of the Arts in Rotterdam, Holland where she received her BFA.

After touring the country with her class, she was picked up by Lonneke Van Leth choreographer in Den Haag.

After 2 seasons dancing in Den Haag, Rebekah relocated back to the US. Since then, she has performed original works by Alonzo King, Larry Keigwin, Helen Simoneau, and Victor Plotnikov.

In addition to being a guest teacher at The Edge, Bekah is a talented freelance artist and teacher.
aAllie Parsons

Allie began dancing at age 2. She has trained in all disciplines of dance with her primary concentration in ballet. 

Allie was featured on the television show “America’s Most Talented Kid, danced the role of "Clara" in Radio City Music Hall's Christmas Spectacular in New York City for two seasons, was featured in the film “Angels In Our Midst” by Steve Childs, and danced the 2017 season with The Opera Theater of Saint Louis.

Allie has trained on scholarships at The Hungarian National Ballet in Budapest, Hungary, The School of American Ballet, CPYB, North Carolina Dance Theatre, The Juilliard School, Jacob's Pillow and many others. 

In 2009 Capezio selected Allie as their "Future Star,” and Dancer Magazine featured Allie as an "Upcoming Dancer to Watch." She won the Gold Medal at the World Ballet Competition and at the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix NYC Finals.
