"I do not try to dance
better than anyone else.
I only try to to dance
better than myself.”

Edge Performing Arts has been a dream of its founders for many years. The program is based on a number of foundational beliefs that we feel are important for our dancers.

The first is the strong belief that diversity is key for a dancer to be successful.  Our dancers have worked professionally (Royal New Zealand Ballet, Julliard, commercial and movie work in Los Angeles, etc.),  and our younger dancers have received scholarships and acceptance to prestigious dance schools and programs across the country like Joffrey, Juilliard and Alvin Ailey.

All of these dancers have told us how important diversity has been to their success. Auditions in the dance industry frequently require dancers to “freestyle” dance, to learn choreography quickly and then retain it, to have a certain performance quality, and to have a solid technical foundation in multiple styles. Dancers who are properly prepared and have received diverse training are the ones who stand out, and are most successful in whatever their dance future holds.

Second is building a level of confidence within the individual. In dance, or any other aspect of life, a person with confidence will shine. For the staff at Edge Performing Arts, it’s extremely important to not only provide them with the technique they want, but to also build a dancer up and provide them with the knowledge and confidence they need to be successful!

Additionally, our program was built around choices. Life is busy. Dancers and parents have hectic schedules, and want to provide all they can for their children. For us, it is important for dancers and parents to have options, so that a quality dance program will fit into their schedules and needs. Dancers are also excused from any class where they are attending another dance event (like conventions, performances and competitions) because we want dancers to have choices and our goal is to help build a better dancer and share our love of dance. Life is hectic enough, choosing the right dance program should not add to that stress. Each level within our program provides multiple choices for as much or as little training as the dancer wants, and is designed to work as a stand-alone training program, or to compliment
a dancer’s existing dance program.

Edge Performing Arts welcomes dancers from all backgrounds, all dance studios and schools, and all body types to be part of our program. Our job as dance professionals is to foster and help make dancer’s dreams a reality… no matter who you are! Today’s world places too much emphasis on body image and physical standards. The dance world is changing, and (luckily) the industry is recognizing that talented dancers come in all shapes and sizes. While physical strength, endurance, and taking good care of your overall health and well-being are important – and part of our program – a dancer will never be turned away from EPA because of their body type.

We cannot stress enough how much this program means to us! We have spent a great deal of time and effort working to put the best possible training program together for our dancers. And, we have consulted industry professionals with a proven track history to help develop our schedule and program. We think you will be pleased with the level of technical training, the professionalism and qualifications of our staff, the organization and environment, and most importantly – the level of diversity and options offered to our dancers.
